Oscar W Schricker

ELKHART-Oscar W. Schricker, 98, passed away March 12, 2024, at Greenleaf Health Campus.  He was born April 10, 1925, in Champaign, IL to Oscar & Sarah (Sutherland) Schricker.

  He was preceded in death by his wives, Barbara Rinehimer Schricker, Marilyn Bugh Haffner Schricker and a brother, Bruce Schricker.

  Surviving are his daughters, Susan Schricker and Nancy Schricker.

  Oscar graduated from high school in Rockford, IL and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in 1949.  Between high school and college, he joined the U.S. Army Air Force.  From August 1943-December 1945, he served overseas as a 2nd lieutenant, where he took part in many bombing raids over Nazi Germany.

  Oscar was a co-owner of Formex Corp. and the owner of ThermX Corp., both in Elkhart.  Oscar was also a founding Vice President of the Community Foundation of Elkhart County.   After retirement, he enjoyed travel and golf and was a member of Elcona Country Club and Christiana Creek Country Club.

  According to his wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Rice Cemetery.

  Memorial contributions may be given to the Oscar and Barbara Schricker Family Fund at the Community Foundation of Elkhart County or the Salvation Army.
